Lollipops and letterboxes

From: oceanwytch (oceanwytch@yahoo.com) | Date: 2006-11-06 23:21:24 UTC
I went out for some boxes today and found 2 of the 4 I was looking
for. As I looked through the logbook of the first one, there were
notes saying "thanks for the lollies" and "we really loved the
lollypops", but there were no pops. I also saw a wrapper on the
ground. I thought to myself "wow, that's really odd. Who would put
candy in a letterbox and attract animals?". So I packed up the box and
moved on to the second box. Low and behold when I opened the box there
was a sandwich bag packed full of dum-dum lolypops! I couldn't believe
it. These boxes were by 2 different people. The only think I can think
is that there is someone out there carrying around baggies of
lollypops and putting them in boxes.

Please, please, please remember that food attracts animals and this is
not a good thing to do.

Oh, does this mean that I should stop using PB&J sandwiches as geocache trade itmes? :P

It brings to mind a box I found a year and a half ago by a new boxer - she
became very enthusiastic in placing boxes and made nice logbooks, and put
cool first finder's prizes in her boxes, and wound up being a pretty good
carver. The first of her boxes I found was on a warming Spring day, and the
FF prize was a chocolate bar! What a good thing I found the box soon after
she planted it and not months later as wasn't unusual at that time.

Yes , I have seen that a few times as well. Would never eat the
lollys, because don't know how long they have actually been there.
Never thought of the animals getting to them though.
